Lie on any Sealy mattress and you channel a century and a quarter of mattress ingenuity. A journey that began in 1881 in the town of Sealy, Texas, when Daniel Haynes, cotton gin builder, filled a request for a cotton-filled mattress. And then another. And then another. His business grew exponentially, which led to more innovations and several patents. Among them, a machine that compressed cotton.
Fifteen years later, Haynes sold his patents to a Texas Company that retained the Sealy handle. Soon after, ad exec Earl Edwards penned the slogan “Sleeping on a Sealy is like sleeping on a cloud.” And with that, Sealy mattresses were a national phenomenon. By 1920, Sealy had 23 licensed plants in many regions.
Even in the face of the Great Depression, they managed to not only stay afloat, but to introduce a new product–the Button-Free Innerspring.
The innovations didn’t end there. Sealy continued their quest for the world to sleep better for decades to come. Milestones include the introduction of the Sealy Posturepedic mattress. Being the first mattress company to display and advertise a king-sized bed. Creating an Orthopedic Advisory Board. Reinventing the innerspring coil and the box spring. Patenting a variety of groundbreaking technologies, including Posture Channels and Pressure Relief Inlays designed to relieve pressure points that cause tossing and turning. And the list continues to grow to this day. In late 1983, Sealy purchased the Stearns & Foster Company. True to the Sealy heritage, these mattresses redefined luxury and expressed a dedication to craftsmanship and intricate detail. Making it a perfect and sound addition to the Sealy family of beds.
Today the company owns and operates 25 bedding plants in the U.S. Three are dedicated to innerspring and foundation component parts and one is dedicated to producing its very own latex–another first in the mattress industry.

We bought a Stearns & Foster Estate mattress after doing a ton of research online. The reviews for the Stearns & Foster mattresses were impressive. They really seem to hold up durability wise. I don’t mind investing a decent amount of money in a good quality mattress as long as I’m fairly certain it will last and I’ll get my moneys worth. Stearns & Foster is the only brand I buy. I had my first Stearns when I got out of college and finally made enough money to be able to afford a good quality mattress. It was the best one I could find and I have always bought them since. If it ain’t broke no need in fixing it. I love mine!
We have the Stearns & Foster Estate H-10 model we purchased in Nashville TN. It is a very solid mattress with really good support and pressure relief. We were a little concerned as to whether or not it would bend with our adjustable base but we have had no problem at all. Great mattress.
We did a lot of research before purchasing our new Stearns and Foster mattress set. We went to several store and researched online for weeks. We bought the Estate Plush Pillow top with an adjustable base. We have been pleased. Hope this review helps someone in their search.
We just bought a new Stearns & Foster H10 mattress an it is wonderful! We couldn’t find a mattress store with mattresses in stock and everyone said it would be weeks and maybe months before they would get any because of Covid. We found one mattress gallery outside of Nashville that happen to have some in stock. Thank god! We have been sleeping on this mattress all week and have never slept this well. We highly recommend Stearns & Foster mattresses.
Nothing beats the quality of a Stearns & Foster luxury mattress set. I was searching online for high end mattress brands and came across http://www.stearnsandfoster.com/ . The mattresses were beautifully designed and really caught my attention. I spend a little extra on sheets and bedroom furniture because it is my sanctuary. I invest more money into my bedroom because I spend a lot of time there working on my lap top for work. I went to a local mattress gallery that had a huge selection and bought an Estate series cushion firm. It has been great. Very comfortable and supportive. It should last a long time.
We just purchased a new Stearns & Foster mattress from our local mattress gallery direct store here in Tennessee. We were out looking for a good restaurant and saw that they were having a grand opening sale. We have been needing a new mattress for what seems like forever. We tried several different brands from Tempur-pedic to Sealy posturepedic and found the Stearns to be the best feel for the both of us. My husband likes a softer feel and I like the mattress to be a little more on the firm side. The cushion firm model that we purchased really works well for both of us.
We can’t say enough about our Stearns & Foster mattress. The last one we had lasted us over 15 years. I’m not even joking. We loved that bed. We decided to finally get a king size and we had to buy a new because our old one was a queen. We went to the same store that we purchased our old one from and they found us a very similar model. We now have a new king Stearns and Foster mattress and our guests get to enjoy the best feeling queen mattress in the planet. LOL
When we visited our local mattress gallery we really didn’t have a direction as to what brand we would buy. We found that the Stearns and Foster was considerably more luxurious than other similar priced brand name mattresses. We have both noticed less back pain as a result of the Cushion Firm Estate mattress that we purchased.
It wasn’t until I bought my Sterns Foster bed that I realized what a good nights sleep really means. It’s well worth the price & the company’s customer service is the best no matter where you purchase their mattress. Quality sleep . . quality customer service . . a whole new quality of life!
My husband and I purchased this mattress set in a queen size one month ago. We are very happy with this purchase. This bed feels as if it is lifting one’s body up and supporting in every way. We do not feel each other move–the bed is that supportive and stable.
This Mattress has been great. I have had back issues for years and nothing has relieved the pain like this. I feel very comfortable recommending this brand to all.
I am a proud owner of almost everything luxury. From watches, cars, furniture and yes even my mattress. I wont buy anything in the bedding category if it doesn’t have Stearns and Foster written on it. I have tried too many brands and they are the most comfortable and durable I have found.
This is by far the most premium mattress I have ever owned. Stearns and Foster has always been very reputable. My parents had them for years and even my grand parents. Its nice to keep the family tradition going with a good ole luxury Stearns.
We Purchased a Stearns And Foster mattress and have been very pleased. I now no why they are not cheap. They are however worth every penny.
